Hi everyone! Thank you for taking a few moments to learn more about me and what makes me tick. I was raised in Cary, though technically I was born in Raleigh at Rex Hospital. I lived in a home off of Holly Springs Road until I was 3 years old when my mother moved because there was no pizza delivery to our house. For those a little newer to the area it is hard to imagine a time when there could have been no pizza delivery to a house on Holly Springs Road! I spent most of my childhood growing up in a neighborhood behind the Cary Mall... before "Cary Towne Centre" and when Barnes & Noble was a Catholic Church. I have a certain fondness for what I affectionately call "Old Cary." However, I also have an appreciation for the growth that our area has seen over the last 25 years and look forward to the changes coming in the next 25 years.
I was educated in the wonderful Wake County school system attending Adams Elementary, East Cary Middle, and Cary High. I have tremendous appreciation for teachers and the impact they have on our children and community. My father taught at East Cary Middle for 32 years and coached baseball at Cary High School for 10 years before retiring. My mother began her professional career as a teacher and cheerleading coach for 12 years before going to work for IBM in the education sector. She was also the first Chief Technology Officer for Wake County Schools before returning to IBM. Many teachers and coaches in addition to my parents literally had a hand in raising me, and I cherish those relationships that I have.
I am a graduate of the College of Management at NC State University with a bachelors degree in Business Management and a concentration in Marketing. I am also the youngest of 3 boys, the eldest Scott and the middle Richard. Scott served for the US military and has spent significant time overseas. He now works for the Raleigh Police Department in the S.W.A.T. unit. He is also the proud father of Lily Mae Hourigan born on 8/26/08. Richard graduated with his Masters of Accounting from East Carolina University and has earned his CPA. He is an auditor for KPMG in Virginia Beach, VA. Together we own and operate Hourigan Investments, LLC, a small real estate holdings company.
I am a member of the local, state, and national board of REALTORS, a designation that carries with it high ethical and professional standards. I am also working towards my ABR (Accredited Buyer Representative) and CNE (Certified Negotiation Expert) designations to better serve my clients. I am a member of the ALC (Agent Leadership Council) which is a position reserved for the top agents within Keller Williams Realty.
